Invisible and Overlooked: Indoor Air Pollution
Did you know the Environmental Protection Agency lists Indoor Air Pollution as the 4th largest environmental threat in the country? Maybe you know someone who suffers from a chronic cold, lethargy, asthma, or other ear, nose and throat irritations... these symptoms could very well be caused by an unhealthy indoor environment at home or at work.
Americans, on average, spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors, where the concentrations of some pollutants are often 2 to 5 times higher than typical outdoor concentrations. A recent study by a team from Harvard and Syracuse Universities showed the significant impact poor indoor air quality can have on a business and its occupants. This impact can directly affect a company bottom line.
Practical takeaways from this presentation are:
- The definition of air quality and the factors that affect it
- The causes of poor air quality, both natural and man-made
- The impact to a business and its occupants
- How a properly functioning HVAC system can correct or minimize issues
- How air quality is investigated and tested
- The role of HVAC Testing and Balancing (TAB)
- How to identify a qualified TAB firm
